Protecting Democracy. Defending Secularism.

Our MISSION

The Freethought Fellowship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity founded to invest in the next generation of freethought leaders who are committed to protecting the secular character of our government.

our vision

We believe the constitutional separation of church and state secures freedom of religion, thought, and conscience. We celebrate the increasingly diverse spectrum of belief in America, and stand against our nation’s dangerous turn towards religious nationalism and authoritarianism.

Extreme, dogmatic, and anti-science policies are setting us back and eroding hard-won gains in civil rights, scientific advancement and educational opportunities for Americans. The rise of Christian nationalists to power is an existential threat to our democracy.

We envision a future in which our nation's laws and policies are rooted in reason and science. Where our government's religious diversity is representative of our nation. Where science and expertise is revered, not denigrated.

We envision a future where strong church-state guardrails ensure that no religion, no sect, no dogma, supersedes the universal constitutional rights afforded to Americans of all faiths, and of the rapidly increasing number of nonreligious Americans.

We are investing in our nation's future public servants and professionals, equipping them to resist religious nationalism and authoritarianism, and empowering them to advance policies that protect America’s secular democracy.
